The European Powerlifting Federation (EPF) will be hosting their 2022 European Classic Open, Sub-Junior & Junior Powerlifting Championships this year in Skieriewice, Poland from November 25th to December 4th. The Sub-Juniors start on November 25th, the Juniors start on November 27th, and then the Open starts on December 1st.

Women’s Classic Open

The women’s side of the championships is full of world-class athletes like Tiffany Chapon, Noemie Allabert, Pleun Dekkers, Bobbie Butters, Chiara Bernardi, Sara Naldi, Marte Kjenner, Ivana Horna, Sophia Ellis, Agata Sitko, Kristin Thorhallsdottir, Emelie Leach, and Amelie Mierger. In addition to them, there will be many other elite-level athletes battling it out for the podium and records.

In the 47s, you can watch Stephanie Legard and Emma Granlund battle it out. The 52s will be a tight race between Sarah Klein, Alison Huet, and Aleksandra Aranitovic. In the 57s, you can watch Alessandra Cernigliaro and Oceane Regis battle it out. In the 63s, not only will you get a rematch of teammates Chiara Bernardi and Sara Naldi but also a battle between Signe Belden and Radostina Lulova. In the 69s, it’ll be a tight race between Raphaela Jungmann, Marika Zandecka, and Annie Nelson. In the 76s, you can watch Sara Sanchez-Manjavacas Ruiz and Lea Schreiner battle it out. In the 84s, we have 76 kg class world silver medalist going up to face 84 kg class world silver medalist Kristin Thorhallsdottir. In addition, British teammates Ziana Azariah and Temitope Nuga will be battling it out for the podium. And in the 84+, you can watch a three-way battle between Emelie Leach, Amelie Mierger, and Sonita Kyen Muluh.

In addition to those battles, look for lifters like Pleun Dekkers in the 52s, Bobbie Butters in the 57s, and Marte Kjenner in the 69s to try to put on a big performance in order to make a final statement to get into the 2023 SBD Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.

Men’s Classic Open

The men’s side is also full of world-class athletes like Antoine Garcia, Panagiotis Tarinidis, Eddie Berglund, Paul Rembauville, Kjell Egil Bakkelund, Alexander Eriksson, Jurins Kengamu, Asein Enahoro, Owen Hubbard, Emil Krastev, Gustav Hedlund, Sascha Stendebach, Emil Norling, Anatolii Novopismennyi, Abdul Majeed Sulayman, Corentin Clement, Carl Petter Sommerseth, Nicolas Peyraud, Temur Samkharadze, Dmytro Vovk, and Cenk Kocak.

The 74s will be a major five-way battle for the podium. Dawid Kawka, Paul Rembauville, Eddie Berglund, Kjell Egil Bakkelund, and Alexander Eriksson are all nominated within 9 kg of each other and any one of them can win this weight class. The 83s will be another major battle with Jurins Kengamu, Asein Enahoro, Owen Hubbard, and Damian Nam all nominated with 18 kg of each other. In the 93s, it looks to be a three-way battle of the podium between Emil Kastev, Gustav Hedlund, and Sascha Stendebach. In the 105s, we get the return of Anatolii Novopismennyi in a stacked class of competitors of Emil Norling, Abdul Majeed Sulayman, and Corentin Clement. The 120s are another deep class with Carl Petter Sommerseth, Nicolas Peyraud, Mateusz Grzesik, Inderraj Singh Dhillon, Antti Kriikkula, and Kieran Gray all nominated with 15 kg of each other. And in the 120+ class, Temur Samkharadze should run away with the gold medal but there will still be a battle for the podium between Dmytro Vovk, Ruben Rico Martin, and Cenk Kocak.

In addition to those battles, look for lifters like Panagiotis Tarinidis, Asein Enahoro, Emil Krastev, Gustav Hedlund, Anatolii Novopismennyi, Abdul Majeed Sulayman, and Corentin Clement to put up a big performance in order to make a final statement to get into the 2023 SBD Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.
